Maine Journalists Invited to Join Our Group: jame.live

GEORGE FRANGOULIS, FOUNDER of JOURNALISTS' ALLIANCE OF MAINE

A call is being made to Maine journalists, both working and retired-- print, broadcast and digital -- to join a new media community, to help support, encourage and celebrate Maine journalists' endeavors and their media outlets.

In fact, we welcome all journalists, writers, reporters, editors, publishers, and First Amendment advocates interested in joining their peers and colleagues while helping to enrich their media platforms in the process.

“Our plan is to star as an informal community of journalists, to meet from time-to- time, and to break bread together at future gatherings,” said George Frangoulis, the group’s founder.

“However, we expect this group will provide a professional network and  support and encourage excellence in Maine’s journalistic endeavors,” said Frangoulis.

If there is strong interest by our community of journalists, we will accomplish future goals to assist members by providing conferences, with roundtable discussions, workshops and professional development classes.

Frangoulis is the past Executive Producer and Co-host of "Good Morning, Belfast!" and "Belfast Alive" community TV shows.  Frangoulis’ journalistic bona fides include his 15-year stint as founder and publisher of The Farmstead Press in Freedom, Maine, with its many publications: Farmstead Magazine, Maine Life, West Florida Life, and Successful Magazine Publishing, which served as the official journal of the Successful Magazine Publishers’ Group.

In addition to launching and operating The Farmstead Press, Frangoulis served on the staffs of Michigan Daily, The New York Times, Tuscaloosa News, and Judson Today.

For over 30 years, he has also served as professor of journalism and student media advisor at several colleges and universities, including University of Alabama, University of Montevallo, Judson College, Shelton State Community College, and Thomas College in Waterville, Maine.

If you are interested in joining our community of journalists and media people, OR just to find out more, please contact George Frangoulis.
